You Can Build Your Own Floating Wood Shelves
Do you know why would anybody be involved in DIY shelf when they could simply take a ride to the neighboring furniture depot and buy something finished? Is making your own shelf truly the right way to go?
Practically everything I’ve constructed has been a unusual design in one way or another. One of our children wished a shelf above her bunk bed that would suit her Barbie dolls in a specific way. The final result was in her exact selection of colors, the accurate size she required, and with the exact combination of cubes and open shelves. Buying that in a store would most certainly been mission impossible. Because of this, you should build wood shelving with your own hands.
It’s a lot cheaper to build your own shelves. In case I’m designing something ordinary, like a normal bookcase, I work the project around the proportions of a typical wood panel and certify that all pieces are cut in a special way, which gives me surplus wood for some other projects. Compared to the price tag of purchasing the same bookcase in the store, I regularly put aside a lot of cash.
And I do not always require to buy new wood. One of my existing projects is a storeroom unit which fits about and over the toilet in the kids bathing room. I’m creating it out of an old cabinet that a fellow citizen was throwing out. Together with the hardware, the entire thing will run me around $13. Beat that if you are able to. And for a second time, this isn’t a typical assignment, it’s constructed to measure for particular dimensions and I simply couldn’t go to a store and buy something that would take advantage of the space.
As well as saving me money and saving our lovely trees, I get a tremendous feeling of satisfaction from doing my own glass shelf brackets and storage projects . I have a little woodworking space in a backyard tool shed and I find it very comforting to waste some quality time getting inventive. It’s genuine quality time, and even the little one likes using real tools instead of his toy set. The children also learn protection and responsibility, it’s a winwin situation for everyone!
