How to Tell if Your Dog is Pregnant
Doggies are obviously very different than humans, which means it can sometimes be difficult to detect whether or not your dog is pregnant.
The best way to find out is to take your dog on a trip to the vet, where they can officially tell you the news. (It is better than guessing, and way more accurate). If you are wondering if your dog is pregnant, here are some things to pay attention to concerning it:
-A decrease in normal appetite or interest for food in general. One thing that is similar in dogs and humans is morning sickness, and this is a sign that it is happening with your own doggie.
-Look for vaginal discharge where your dog tends to lie down, as it is a normal sign of pregnancy.
-Take a look at your dog’s teats, seeing if they are abnormally large. This happens in preparation for nursing the dogs once they are born and is completely normal.
-Check for signs of behavioral differences. Your dog may seem to be a lot more tired than usual, or not her hyper doggie self. This is because she has a few puppies growing inside of her, and it is wearing her out! This is nothing to worry about…just think about how tired you would be if you were in her position.
-Check to see if your dog’s stomach is enlarged or looks to be swollen. Obviously, this would happen if she had some pups growing in there.
-Take notice of her new tendencies to ‘nest.’ If she starts scratching at the floors or blankts she is resting on, and never seems to be comfortable when she is trying to relax, then you can place a safe bet that she has some baby pups in the oven.
